Reliability engineer with 12+ years building distributed systems. Currently keeping Wave's databases up and running efficiently and safely for millions of users across West Africa.

experience.

Senior Site Reliability Engineer (L5) · Wave Mobile Money

Apr 2023 — Present

Remote, France

  • Database Reliability Engineer owning the reliability, performance and evolution of Wave's massive PostgreSQL fleet powering mobile-money for millions of users across West Africa.
  • Scaled and matured the in-house Postgres-on-Kubernetes platform (custom in-house operator, storage, backups, PITR, HA, observability) across cloud and bare-metal.
  • Led audits with central banks across West Africa to meet regulatory and compliance requirements on the data tier.
  • Switched backups and PITR from a GCS-based solution to disk snapshots, dramatically improving recovery time and the speed of scaling up new replicas.
  • Moved all databases to network-attached disks to decouple compute from storage and enable faster failover and provisioning.
  • Drove the effort to migrate selected workloads from PostgreSQL to CockroachDB (CRDB) for horizontal scalability and multi-region resilience.
  • Optimized the autovacuum strategy across the fleet to reduce bloat, table-level contention and long-tail latency on write-heavy workloads.
  • Defined SLOs, on-call practices, capacity planning and incident response for the data tier; mentored engineers across SRE and product teams.

Senior Site Reliability Engineer (L4) · Wave Mobile Money

Apr 2022 — Apr 2023

Remote, France

  • Led the migration of all Wave databases from Aiven (managed) to a self-managed PostgreSQL platform on Kubernetes — running both in the cloud and on bare-metal — slashing cost while improving control, performance and recoverability.
  • Designed the in-house Postgres-on-Kubernetes stack (custom in-house operator, storage, backups, PITR, HA) and the bare-metal hardware and networking blueprint.
  • Promoted to L5 after one year for impact on database reliability and platform engineering.

Senior Database SRE · BlaBlaCar

Sep 2020 — Mar 2022

Remote, France

  • Database SRE for BlaBlaCar's data platform powering the carpooling and bus marketplace at European scale.
  • Led the migration of a large Elasticsearch cluster with zero user-facing downtime.
  • Implemented an operator to continuously test and validate MySQL and Cassandra backups.
  • Designed monitoring and alerting across the MySQL, Cassandra and Elasticsearch fleets, and joined the database on-call rotation.

Backend / Site Reliability Engineer · Heetch

Aug 2019 — Sep 2020

Remote, France

  • Member of the Software Delivery team, owning developer experience and the path from commit to production for the ride-hailing platform.
  • Designed and built the in-house CI/CD pipeline end-to-end, standardising builds, tests and deployments across all backend services.
  • Worked on the on-demand Mesos/Marathon cluster provisioner, letting teams spin up ephemeral clusters for testing and staging workloads.

Site Reliability Engineer · Lalamove

Dec 2017 — Aug 2019

Hong Kong

  • Ran production infrastructure for an on-demand logistics platform operating across Asia and LATAM.
  • Helped run MySQL and Elasticsearch on Kubernetes at scale, focusing on reliability, performance and operations.
  • Owned Kubernetes, CI/CD and observability tooling for high-throughput delivery services.

Software Engineer · Plüm Énergie

Jul 2016 — Oct 2017

Paris, France

  • Designed and built RESTful services and micro-services in Node.js, deployed on a containerised AWS infrastructure.
  • Owned large parts of the billing system end-to-end, from data model to APIs.
  • Built internal tools and libraries for the engineering team in Node.js, Bash and Java.
  • Integrated the Angular 1.5 front-end with backend REST APIs.
  • Contributed to the design of the data schema and the broader IT infrastructure.
  • Took part in code reviews and operational maintenance of production services.

Co-founder · We Feed The Troll

2014 — 2017

Valenciennes, France

  • Co-founded a software studio building backend services and web platforms for clients.
  • Led architecture, hiring, and delivery; shipped production systems in Go, Node.js and PHP.
  • Open-sourced performance-focused libraries used by the broader Go community.
